Pricing Leadership Outlook 05: Kiran Gange

Strategic judgment at scale.
Most pricing teams today spend their time on operational execution. That’s the part that’s going away. What replaces it is the ability to take in far more information than any of us can process in a meeting—quantitative and qualitative, historical data and forward forecasts—and still make decisions that mean something, across a much bigger book, with fewer people.
The judgment that used to sit underneath the work becomes the work. Instead of setting prices, you’re measuring and reacting to changing conditions quickly, with analytics behind every call. That might look like an AI system raising alerts that you monitor and approve. Or a properly formed, reviewed strategy with KPIs giving you a continuous read on what you’re doing and how you’re responding to it.
What doesn’t change is the psychology. How people buy, how they react to a price — that stays exactly the same. What changes is what you can do with it, and how quickly.
Building that skill set is what organizations should be working on now.
